Five Upcoming Technologies for Better Driving Experience
Technology has taken over the world with a storm. It has brought a revolution in the way we people think and live in our daily routine. Technology has taken wide steps on mobile and computer world. Now, upcoming technologies are on automobile and driving front. Consumers would be delighted to know some of the upcoming technologies for their cars that can give them a better driving experience. These upcoming technologies will make driving lot easier than you have ever expected.
Five Upcoming Technologies for Car
Here are five upcoming technologies that are all set to hit showrooms near you this year.
Inflatable Seat Belt
Inflatable seat belt is one of the upcoming technologies this year. Sweden’s Autoliv have come forward with their new shoulder straps included with built-in air bags. After Ford, Mercedes Benz new S-Class Sedans will be seen with this one of the upcoming technologies of 2013.
Inflatable Seat Belt as one of the sure shot upcoming technologies will prevent you from severe muscle and spinal injuries especially in violent accidents. Moreover, inflatable seat belt uses cold gas in order to inflate its protective bladder instead of hot gas that was used traditionally resulting in burns.
The upcoming technologies such as inflatable seat belt will be available in four Ford models: The Explorer, The Lincoln MKT sport utility, The Lincoln MKZ Sedan and The Flex. The first of the upcoming technologies will be available in Ford and Mercedes new models.
Dynamic Spotlight Technology
After observing the increasing amount of death rates of pedestrians especially in countries like United States, BMW is ready with one of the upcoming technologies this year. Dynamic Spotlight Technology is the one of upcoming technologies that will help driver to focus on pedestrians by focusing on the footsteps on road at night. These new upcoming technologies will help you spot pedestrians while it is dark.
How It Works
This one of upcoming technologies uses an infrared camera that is mounted behind the grille to see down the road ahead. The upcoming technologies like Dynamic Spotlight Technology pick out the outline of a person (or animal) and signal the headlights of the car to illuminate them and help in preventing the collision. It also shows an in-cabin alert by projecting an icon displaying a person enclosed in a yellow triangle onto windshield or a dashboard.
Designing Own Dashboard
Another one of upcoming technologies coming this year is the programmable screens that display more information than those traditional dashboards that were there in your cars. Some of the features in this one of upcoming technologies will be variety of controls on steering wheel accessing to change languages, converting miles per hour to kilometers and guidance of route ahead.
The upcoming technologies like this new dashboard will be available in new Lexus IS F-Sport model that is due out this June. The Lexus IS F-Sport model will have a thin film transistor display and a moving tachometer dial for measuring RPM’s to create a hybrid of the traditional and new dashboard. However, this one of upcoming technologies is not new and is adapted from Lexus’s super sports car LFA.
Shift into Ninth Gear
Many automakers have increased their car’s transmission with time. Most cars used to come with four-speed transmissions. Now one of the upcoming technologies coming this year will be nine-speed transmission. The Chrysler Group LLC will announce one of upcoming technologies to front wheel drive car. Another German Company ZF Friedrichshafen AG is coming with these upcoming technologies believing that the fuel economy will improve by 10% to 16% when compared with a six-speed automatic. It will be mainly because of wider spread of gears to keep engine in right spot turning as slowly as possible to stay engine at certain speed.
But, the constant change in gears of the car will not make it to smooth drive. May be this one of upcoming technologies will not be appreciated by the most consumers. However, the nine-speed transmission may be the maximum for a consumer car.
Drive using Computer
This is one of the upcoming technologies that will change the way drivers use to drive and steer their cars. The traditional steering of the car involved a series of mechanical connections allowing the wheel in your hands to guide four wheels on road. But, Infiniti’s new Q50 Sedan is industry’s first so called steer by wire system swapping those mechanical elements with an all electronic system. The upcoming technologies like these will surely help the driving experience. The electronic system will be faster in linking the steering wheel with the driver actions. Apart from this, these electronic upcoming technologies will also allow to choose among four different degrees of serenity in handling. If there is a fault in these upcoming technologies then mechanical linkage system will be in effect and will keep car under control.
