ETtech Deals Digest: Byju’s funding, Tiger & Sequoia back Moglix and more
There were 20 transactions announced in the week ended July 11th, of which, 14 can be classified as early-stage deals. This compares to 20 deals announced in the previous week that ended July 4th, of which 11 were Seed-to-Series A investments.
In a fresh funding round, education technology firm Byju’s has raised $150 million led by Qatar Investment Authority, the Qatar government’s sovereign wealth fund. San Francisco-based Owl Ventures also participated in the investment round. The investment values the startup at $5.7 billion, according to sources. Read more
Gurgaon-based surface transport and logistics company Rivigo Services has raised $65 million (about Rs 445 crore), as part of its ongoing Series E round. The round was led by two of its existing investors – private equity firm Warburg Pincus and SAIF Partners. This is the second successive round of funding led by the same two institutional investors, and comes about 18 months after it closed a $50 million equity financing. Read more
MogliLabs has raised $60 million (about Rs 412 crore) in its latest funding round led by Tiger Global Management and Sequoia Capital. The latest equity financing round, which closed last month, comes about four months after Flipkart chief Layan Krisnamurthy came on board as an investor, and participated in his personal capacity. The round, which also comes about seven months after it closed its $23 million Series C round, values the company at about $200-$300 million. Read more
Fintech startup NiYO Solutions has raised $35 million (about Rs 240 crore) in its Series B round of funding, led by existing backer Horizons Ventures, with Chinese internet behemoth Tencent Holdings also joining its cap table as a new investor. The Delaware- and Bengaluru-based company will use the proceeds for brand building, acquisitions, product development and expansion. Read more
